Free eye check-
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: A free eye check up and cataract operation camp under National Programme of Control of Blindness began at Diyun, Changlang yesterday.
Conducted by Mobile Eye Unit, Naharlagun headed by eye specialists KK Deb and Taba Khanna, the camp is being attended by eye patients from Changlang, Miao Diyun and Bordumsa area.
A total of 206 patients with various eye ailments were registered for check up at the camp.
According to information eye check up was being carried out under the personal supervision of Changlang DMO P Dutta. Doctors from Diyun CHC are assisting the team.
NCC advance leadership training camp ends
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: The advance leadership training camp conducted by NCC Group Headquarters, Tezpur concluded at Dera Natung Government College here on Saturday.
The camp was organized to inculcate leadership quality in youth and motivate them to join armed forces.

Improve work culture: CoSAAP
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: Elated with the state government’s move to increase dearness allowance (DA) of 8 per cent over the existing 72 per cent to all the state government employees, the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has asked the state government employees to improve work culture for overall development of the state and also to enhance the policies of the state government for the welfare of the common people.
We further appeal the state government to consider the other genuine pending demands of the state government employees including release of 10 per cent HRA with effect from April last, the release added.
Death mourned
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: The All Habung Welfare Society has condoled the demise of Habung Pappu who passed away today at her native village at Reru in Lower Subansiri district.
Late Habung Pappu was 82 years old, who left behind three sons, four daughters and 32 grand children.
In the condolence message, the society wrote, her death is an irreparable loss to the Habung clan. She was a very popular lady as she was extremely amiable and was of helpful nature.
Expressing regards and sympathies with the bereaved family, the society further prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Youths against drug abuse
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: The All Arunachal Pradesh Anti Drug Youth Organization (AAPADYO), in its fight against consuming and selling of drugs, collaborated with Capital police today to nab five drug peddlers from Itanagar Gompa.
We request the law enforcing authority to take strict action against such drug peddlers to save and protect the society, stated AAPADYO appealing the senior citizens, civil societies and youth organizations to cooperate with them in promoting awareness among the youths about the ill effects and potential menace of drugs.

accident at Dhemaji area around 11 am today. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital

The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has declared state mourning on Sunday as a mark of respect to the departed soul of former minister Wangnia Pongte and the national flag would be flown half mast Sunday while a holiday will be declared in Changlang district only on the day of his last rite.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma expressed deep shock and mourned the sudden demise of former minister Pongte. He said that untimely demise of Pongte is a great loss to the State and its people, especially for the Tutsa community.
Conveying heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, the Governor offered prayer for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has expressed shock and grief over the tragic demise of former Minister Wangnia Pongte.
“The information has come as shock to me. This is a moment of tragedy and I, on behalf of the government and the people of Arunachal Pradesh, convey heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members,” he said in a message here this evening.
Pongte reportedly succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him when the car he was travelling in collided with a Tata Winger near Dhemaji this morning.
Tuki recalled Late Pongte as a leader of the masses who worked tirelessly for upliftment of his district, especially the Tutsa community. He said the tragedy has taken away one of the true sons of the soil.
“Late Pongte will be remembered forever by the people for his contributions as a minister and a legislator,” Tuki added in the message.
Expressing deep shock at the untimely demise of former minister, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Komlung Mosang said it is an irreparable loss to the state. Mosang conveyed deep sense of sympathy to the bereaved family. The Tutsa Community of Changlang also expressed deep sorrow over the untimely death of Pongte. The community prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

NES gives a clarion call for crime-
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) today called upon the state Govt to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the state so that every citizens live a peaceful life.
Interacting with the media persons, after being reelected as NES president for the third consecutive time at NES silver jubilee celebration at Yazali in April 19 last, Bengia Tolum said that it is first duty of the welfare state Govt to protect the life and property of every citizen.
Giving a clarion call to make the state crime free, Tolum also requested every citizen of the state to extend a helping hand to the Government in maintaining law and order and to bring the criminals to the book.
Stating that his organization is not in favour of using the word “deteriorating’ as they have no statistical data on crime, Tolum, however, said that home department must see to it that the police personnel are doing their job sincerely and dedication. At least Govt should ensure that the existence of police force is felt in the society, he said.

NCP urges Centre to review its approach towards China
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: The State unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) urged both Centre and the State Government to review its policy towards China and support the Tibetan cause.
Describing the violations of basic human rights of the Tibetans by the Chinese authorities, especially in matters of culture and religion, and aggressive marginalization of the Tibetans through the policy of economic imperialism and exploitation of its huge water and mineral resources as extremely upsetting, the state NCP unit urged both the Congress led Govt. in Centre and State to realize the gravity of the Tibetan problems and start an early review of India’s approach towards China.
“The innumerable instances of self immolation in various pockets of Tibet and the growing unrest amongst Buddhist monks throughout the globe are matters of international concern and speak volume of the grave situation.”
According to Bengia, the greatest Foreign Policy blunder Committed by Central leadership was accepting Tibet and Tibetan problems as internal matter of China. This sort of soft, timid and ambiguous approach by the Indians State led to Chinese Aggression in 1962, he claimed.

To begin a change in paradigm shift in policies, the GOI should not only support the Tibetan cause internationally but more importantly allow the voices within the Nation State, particularly the voices of Arunachal, who are the worst victim of Chinese occupation to ventilate their concerns for Tibetan Refugees in India as well as those in Tibet, he opined.
The spontaneous formation of TSG Arunachal (Tibet Support Group) with participation of prominent leaders like RK Khrimey, Anok Wangsa, Kabak Tacho and many others, including leaders from various political parties in the state extending their unconditional support to Tibetan cause is a welcome beginning, Bengia said.

Before beginning to express a tribute to the Dads all over the globe, I vouch not to go deep into tracing its origin like everybody else does. Rather, I would like to bring forth those critical moments when dads (well my dad constituted the rescue team) saved our souls from the sound thrashing of moms, did credible duty as the defense lawyer so on and so forth.Still, Dads aren’t all that charitable beings for one can sniff out their disapproval when you go out for shopping, yes I just mentioned that! “I got that for you last month, it had cost me my month’s salary, how could you be such a monster” or “You know what, with this much amount that you are spending on your vogue items a pauper would have afforded his daily meal” are some of his trademark statements. On the contrary, mother’s emote a more liberal approach as she is inherently possessive and informed about her offspring’s demand and the legendary ‘mood swings’ when they don’t have ‘demanded’ stuffs at their disposal.
Since the supposed truth goes somewhat like this “a son is a son till he gets himself a wife, but a daughter is a daughter all her life”, I would like to churn out possible ecstasies by feeling a lot more pampered. To be the father of growing daughters,is quite challenging a responsibility because one has to view the situation from both the perspectives;from the daughter’s lens and his own parental instincts. He cannot be a ruthless dictator, taming his daughters and demarcating out of bounds areas for her nor can he be too liberal a guardian. I read somewhere, “Any fool can be a father but it takes a real man to be a daddy”! A daughter’s, as they say, first hero and her last lover dads are someone who don’t tell you how to live rather they will live and let us watch them and as you grow up watching them living you will realize what God has gifted you with; the masterpiece of Nature.
Driving away back from your hostel his heart wrenches more than yours and its him who wishes for a prompt reunion. Taking a trip down the memory lane, I could recollect that day when dad was stretching his neck and eyes full of anxiousness at my home coming, that was a pleasant yet poignant sight.To a father growing old nothing is dearer than his daughter and nothing is more expensive than hugging his daughter tight after what seems like a decade of separation. No matter whom she grows up to be, a daughter will always remain that tiny little child flaunting her neatly tied braid and twirling around the household space like a naughty little elf.
So this is for you young man (because legends never grow old),of whom I can vouch for that he won’t ever hurt me and no matter how grave my mistakes are, one pretentious innocent look and he will be a pat of butter in the hot frying pan. NABARD to start horticulture in Tawang under TDF
ITANAGAR, Jun 15: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has conducted a detailed consultation with the farming community of six villages in Tawang district to start horticulture farms under Tribal Development Fund (TDF) program.
Delhi Based NGO InsPIRE Network for Enviornment (INE) and Yuva Arunachal have prepared a proposal for establishing the horticulture plantations in those villages in detailed consultation with the community.
The community consultation began in Lumla in presence of Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Jambey Tashi, who called upon the community to own the program and generate sustainable employment options through establishing the horticulture plantations with support from NABARD.
Reminding of the fact that agriculture is the mainstay of livelihood for majority of people in Arunachal Pradesh, Jambey requested the NABARD representatives to look into all the unique agriculture problems existing in the region and consider them during the project planning.
NABARD DGM Anoop Mohan explained the communities about the different programs carried out by the Bank while AGM Sachin Kamble explained about the details of TDF of NABARD.
Dr. K Inkarsal, AGM of NABARD also participated in the detailed community consultation.

Earlier, inaugurating the programme, Dr. A. K. Pandey, Dean, CHF, Pasighat emphasized on the scope of vegetable farming in Arunachal Pradesh, which is also the need for the hour to be nutritionally secured. Vegetable farming is a remunerative venture for the farming community in general, he said and encouraged the rural youth in particular to take up such activity. The farmers were also taken for exposure visit to Jampani vegetable growing areas and Rayang village for vegetable growing, rubber plantation and Integrated farming systems.
During the valedictory session Dr. A.K. Pandey, Dean distributed certificate and vegetable seeds to farmers. The participating farmers were from Sipu, Sido, Kakki, Rotte and Jarku villages of the district. The farmers in their feedback appreciated the simple yet unknown farmer friendly technologies that were taught during the training programme. The farmers also requested for organizing such programme in future for the benefit of the farming community. Dr. Mahesh Pathak, Programme Coordinator thanked the farmers and assured them of every technical help from KVK.
